How Organized Are You? – Take the Quiz

Written by Martha on June 26th, 2009

Are you great at prioritizing, but can’t find that phone number you need?  Find out which areas of organizing you are skilled in and which you stink at.  Just take the “How Organized Are You?” quiz, saying True of False out loud with the first answer that pops into your head.  Don’t think too hard about it or try to fudge your answers.  Then read on to see how you stack up.

  1. I never look for my car keys.
  2. My home office or desk reflects the quality of my work.
  3. I have a system for purging outdated papers.
  4. It is easier for me to go and buy a 2nd item (or a 3rd or 4th) than to find what I did with the first.
  5. I always have a plan for dinner.
  6. My folder for 2010 tax preparation is in progress.
  7. I can find friend and contact information without having to search for it (addresses, phones, emails.)
  8. I never pay a late fee.
  9. My project (action) files are in a designated area that is separate and distinct from my reference files.
  10. I know and work on my life priorities daily.

If you answered:
True to 2, 7, and 10: You manage your time and resources well so you can be effective at the task at hand.
False to 2, 7, and 10:  You could use a refresher course in time management and office organization.**
True to 4, 5, and 8:  You can invest the money your organization skills are saving you on a regular basis.
False to 4, 5, and 8:  Your organizational habits are causing a slow leak in your wallet.++
True to 3, 6, and 9:  You have an effective paper management system in place.
False to 3, 6, and 9:  Your paper piles are slowing you down and costing you valid tax savings.##
True to all three statements 1, 4, 7, and 9:  You know where to find what you need when you need it.
False to all three statements 1, 4, 7, and 9:  You spend more time looking for things than the average American’s 55 minutes a day.  That is 12 whole days or 6 work weeks over the course of a year. ++

Leave me a comment to tell me what you found out about your organizing style.  I always score well on organizing things and spaces, but have to really work on using time efficiently.
